Common Room
The Ravenclaw Tower serves as a common room for Ravenclaw students in Hogwarts.
The entrance to the common room is located on the west side of Hogwarts at the top of a spiral staircase. It has a bronze knocker in the shape of an eagle, and in order to enter you must answer a riddle that the eagle gives you each time.
An example of a riddle would be:
"Which came first the phoenix or the flame?"
"A circle has no beginning"
The common room is a large, circular room with a midnight blue carpet, arched windows hung with blue and bronze silks and a domed ceiling painted with stars.
They have a great view of the Quidditch pitch, Forbidden Forest, Herbology gardens and the lake.
There is a statue of Rowena Ravenclaw in the middle of the room also.
I'd love to live there!

Rowena Ravenclaw
She was a Scottish witch and founder of the Ravenclaw house in Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry.
She died in the 11th century after becoming ill. Her daughter, Helena, had run off with the Ravenlaw diadem which had apparently caused her broken heart.
While being a teacher of magic in the school, it is rumoured that it was her who chose the name "Hogwarts" to name the school.

Quirinus Quirrel, the villain from Ravenclaw
Ron said it himself, "Every wizard who went bad was in Slytherin"
Is that really true though?
Apparently not. Quirinus Quirrell, both a professor of Muggle Studies and Defence against the Dark Arts, had turned to the dark arts indeed.
When he took a leave from Hogwarts in 1990, he told the school he wanted to get first hand experience with the dark arts, when in reality, he wanted to be the hero to find Lord Voldemort, instead of being seen as a weak st-t-t-tuttering teacher.
He certainly found the Dark lord, but things turned for the worst. While Quirrell was an intelligent man, he was weak minded (there's a difference between book smart and street smart!) and Voldemort manipulated him easily, and soon transformed his weakened state to stay on Quirrells head.
Quirrell then wore a turban for the year, claiming to have received it as a gift from an African prince for disposing of a zombie.
He had a reputation of being quite cowardly and quiet, which didn't earn him much respect, but this is exactly what he needed in order to avoid suspicion and attention when he let in the troll in Hogwarts in 1991. He was searching for the Philosophers stone and often created distractions.
He noticed that Harry Potter was becoming a nuisance, so he jinxed his broom in a Quidditch match, however Snape was trying to counter-curse it. The jinx wore off after Hermione set Snape on fire (thinking Snape jinxed Harry) and Quirrell lost his concentration.
During the showdown between Harry and Quirrell, Harry is able to burn Quirrells face because of the protective powers his mother gave him when she died, Quirrell is defeated and fails to get the Stone from Harry.
I suppose this shows that not everything is the way it seems, eh Harry?
